Geodesic’s Mundu TV is being showcased as Ovi Store’s highest ranked free app at CommunicAsia 2011 to be held in Singapore 21-24 June 2011. Geodesic Limited – a leading provider of award-winning mobile and desktop solutions for instant messaging, VoIP and Internet radio – launched Mundu TV in mid-August 2010 as a mobile TV app and content delivery service.
Its live and archived television broadcasts from top content providers worldwide won the immediate attention of Nokia with its personalised TV experience for viewers on-the-go.
Mundu TV has been doing extremely well in Ovi Store and has crossed over 2 million downloads since its launch in 2010. The huge increase in download numbers in Ovi Stores has resulted in early 2011 growth exceeding 2010 downloads by 150 per cent.
"Nokia’s support for Geodesic and Mundu TV signifies a strategic partnership based on a unified dedication to bringing innovative products and solutions to create a dynamic mobile ecosystem,” said Arvind Venkateswaran, Geodesic’s SVP of worldwide business development.
Mundu TV has now topped 2.7 million Ovi Store downloads, with Nokia devices accounting for 90 per cent of Mundu TV’s global user base.
"We, at Nokia, are focused on bringing unique mobile applications to our users so that they can enjoy information, communication and entertainment from our devices for a more personalised and enriched mobile lifestyle,” said Kenny Mathers, Head-Developer Relations, Asia Pacific, Nokia. “With Mundu TV’s region-specific content, user-friendly TV functions, as well as superior audio and video quality, it is today the most downloaded app in Ovi Store’s Free to Download category.”
With over 50 per cent of all downloads coming from Asian users, Mundu TV is also witnessing impressive download and activation numbers in Brazil, Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Spain and Italy as well. Mundu TV’s success has also helped increase the visibility of other Mundu apps, including Mundu Radio.
The Nokia showcase at CommunicAsia will feature Mundu TV as part of Nokia’s ecosystem with today’s leading developers.
